Greening Stoneybatter Strategy
Architecture Office Urban Agency Architects
Typology Co-Design, Public Consultation, Public Realm
Location Stoneybatter, Dublin, Ireland
Client Dublin City Council
Status Completed, 2020
In 2019, a collaborative consultation process was launched in Stoneybatter, a Dublin neighbourhood with a strong community spirit, to co-design strategies for improving access and availability of public green spaces. Over an eight-month period, Urban Agency worked as public-realm designers alongside an ecologist, under the coordination of Dublin City Council’s Parks Department.
The process engaged more than 250 participants and generated 41 concrete ideas from residents and community groups, complemented by key projects proposed by the design team. These insights were consolidated into a final report, outlining a shared vision for the neighbourhood’s green infrastructure.
As Architecture Team Lead, I led meetings with residents, the Council, stakeholders, and elected representatives. I was responsible for drafting the overall masterplan and high-level strategy, as well as producing detailed design proposals for selected project areas.
